It's July 12 and most of the snow at the Sunshine Meaodows has melted. Wildlflowers such as Glacier Lilies, Western Anemones and Alpine buttercups are in full flower. Because of the late snowmelt this year, the wildflower season will probably be exceptionally good as everything comes into bloom at the same time!

2011 Summer Hiking Season at Sunshine Meadows Begins!
The season started off a little slowly this year - after all, there were near record amounts of snow in the Rockies this winter. But after a little bit of work with the snowblower, we cleared the trail to Rock Isle Lake on June 28. The snow didn't last long and is now almost gone (July 9).
As usual a this time of year, there's lots of wildlife to see on the road to Sunshine and in the meadows!
